Welcome to Applications Engineer Jeff Spitz from Slidell, Louisiana. With Jeff on board, the engineering team now grows to five engineers led by VP- Engineering Chris Dale.

Jeff brings 20-plus years of experience with gear manufacturing and gearbox repair, working with cross-functional teams similar to our engineering team at Atlanta Gear Works.

“He has the experience and ability to step right into what we do with little training required,” said Chris.

Chris and Jeff first met in 2016 and 2019, when Jeff was with his previous employer.

“We ground some gears for them,” said Chris, “and had some discussions on the reverse engineering of the gears and the tooth geometry.”

Chris could see they shared the same respect for quality, precision and customer satisfaction. Jeff remembers the encounters the same way, but no discussions of a job ever occurred. In fact, Jeff was content where he was — until he and his wife, now empty-nesters, began to feel the pull to be closer to family.

“For several years, we’d been wanting to move closer to my wife’s mother in Georgia,” said Jeff.

When he saw an opening for an engineer posted on the Atlanta Gear Works LinkedIn page, he remembered how much he respected the work AGW had done for him and called Chris about the job.

He came to visit us, interviewed with all the key people and was offered the job.

Now that he’s been with us for a few weeks, he recalls talking with a friend who had worked for Atlanta Gear Works several years earlier: “He gave them a glowing review. Now that I’m here, I can see why.”

We say, “Jeff, we’re glad to have you on the team.”
