Modified Roll Stand Gearbox

,

Atlanta Gear Works recently completed the rebuild of a roll stand gearbox for a Michigan steel mill. This repair included changing the output roll center distance from 18.5 inches to 22.5 inches by re-machining the housing and providing new output pinion shafts. The rebuild was done on our customer’s spare gearbox. The mill had changed the center distance of their roll stand thus requiring this modification.

Here you can see the 43,000 lb gearbox being reassembled. The gearbox will then be shipped back to Michigan for installation by the mill.
